Post Graduate Work Permit Private Colleges in Canada 2022

The majority of authorized private institutions in Canada do not meet the standards for their students to obtain a work visa after graduation. Fortunately, this article will provide information on all private postgraduate work permit colleges in Canada.

A Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) is an open work permit that permits the bearer to work for any employer in Canada and to change jobs at any time.

Meanwhile, a certified private institution in Canada that provides a high-quality education may not have the prerequisites for its students to qualify for a PGWP. PGWP is not available to students enrolled in language schools in Canada.

Furthermore, private colleges that train students to be paramedics or camera operators do not meet the PGWP eligibility requirements.

What exactly is a Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP)?

A Post-Graduation Work Permit is a work permit issued to international students who have completed their studies at a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) in Canada. In other words, it is an open work permit that allows graduates of international students to work for or change companies in any area of Canada.

The PGWP, unlike most Canadian work permits, does not necessitate a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). Using PGWP, international graduates in Canada get sufficient job experience.

This work experience qualifies the international graduate for one of the following permanent residency programs in Canada:

Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)
Federal Skilled Trades (FST)
Provincial Nomination Programs (PNP)
Quebec Immigration Programs
Can I acquire a work permit in Canada after attending a private college?

You certainly can. However, not all Canadian-licensed private colleges meet the standards for their students to be eligible for the Post-Graduation Work Permit in Canada.

If you are eligible for the PGWP, you can apply from anywhere in Canada or around the world.

If you do not alter your status to a visitor before your study permit expires, you will only have 90 days to apply for a PGWP in order to resume your status as a student in Canada.

Who is eligible for a work permit in Canada after graduation?

To be eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) in Canada, a student must be an international student who is at least 18 years old and has completed a full-time program in Canada for at least eight (8) months.

The student must have completed the following levels of study and programs at a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) in Canada:

public post-secondary school including a college, trade/technical school or university, or CEGEP in Quebec; or
a private post-secondary school that operates under the same rules as public schools (only applies to certain institutions in Quebec); or
a private secondary or post-secondary school (in Quebec) that offers qualifying programs of 900 hours or longer that lead to the award of a diplôme d’études professionnelles (DEP) or an attestation de spécialisation professionnelle (ASP); or
Canadian private schools have the authorization to award degrees under provincial law only for those enrolled in study programs leading to a degree as authorized by the province.
International candidates who are residents of Canada, on the other hand, must have a valid status before applying. If their study permission has expired or is about to expire, they can apply for alien status before submitting the PGWP application.

If you apply for a PGWP before your study permit expires, you will be able to work full-time after graduation while your PGWP application is being processed.

You can also apply from your native country for a PGWP.

How long is the work visa valid after completing your studies in Canada?

The validity of your PGWP is the time period between when you were issued the work permit and when it expires.

The following are the guidelines for the validity of a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP):

The PGWP validity period is the same as the program duration for program lengths greater than 8 months but less than 2 years.
If the program lasts more than two years, the PGWP validity term is extended to three years.
Private Colleges in Canada with Post-Graduate Work Permits

All private colleges in Canada that offer Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) programs are certified learning institutions.

Remember that you must also meet all of the other conditions for the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). However, even if you complete all of the conditions, you will not be eligible for a PGWP if your specified learning institution or program is not eligible for the PGWP.

CONCLUSION:

A Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) allows overseas students who have completed their studies at a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) to work for any company in any area of Canada.

Not all private colleges in Canada meet the criteria for students to be eligible for a PGWP. Students in language institutes in Canada, for example, do not qualify for PGWP, nor do students at private colleges that train students to be paramedics or camera operators.

Before applying as an overseas student to any private college in Canada, ensure that the private college or program is eligible for the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).
